Group BTS met with the Mexican president.
BTS visited the Mexican presidential office at 8 a.m. on the 7th (Korea time) and met with Claudia Sheinbaum, the president of Mexico. President Sheinbaum opened the presidential office balcony, and BTS greeted citizens.

President Sheinbaum said, “BTS’s music always delivers messages of friendship, peace, and love.”
Group BTS heated up the scene by stepping onto the balcony of the Mexican presidential palace and directly interacting with fan.

Published photos from the event show all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—standing side by side on the balcony, greeting fans. The members, each wearing different suit styles, waved their hands, smiled brightly, and looked out at the scene with relaxed expressions.
In another scene, J-Hope was captured actively encouraging cheers with his arms outstretched, while some members leaned against the railing, looking down and making eye contact with fans. V and RM waved their hands with calm smiles, and Jin and Jungkook leaned forward to respond to the fans’ cheers.

Notably, in one photo, the members were seen making heart gestures with their hands or clapping to show their appreciation in their own ways. The interior of the palace, visible behind the balcony with its ornate chandeliers, added to the historic atmosphere.
On-site, the members communicated with fans through a microphone, saying in broken Spanish, “I love you,” “Mexico is truly the best,” and “See you again.”
This meeting took place ahead of BTS’s Mexico performances starting on the 7th. BTS will hold a total of three concerts on the 7th, 9th, and 10th, with tickets selling out immediately upon release, proving their immense popularity.
Meanwhile, BTS visited Mexico for the first time in approximately 9 years since 2017, and this visit is expected to have a significant economic impact on the region.
Mexico is one of the countries with high interest in K-pop. According to data released by Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, last year Mexico was the fifth-largest market for K-pop listening globally. Among these, BTS is the most-streamed artist by local K-pop fans. The fourth full album ‘Map of the Soul: 7,’ released in 2020, is the most-played K-pop album in Mexico, and eight out of the top 10 most-played K-pop albums are BTS’s works. ‘Dynamite’ is the most-streamed K-pop song in Mexico since the K-pop boom, and seven out of the top 10 songs on the chart are BTS’s tracks.

According to the local daily El Universal, Mexico City was also recorded as the city that listens to BTS’s music the most on Spotify.
Thanks to this, BTS will perform at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City for three days on the 7th, 9th, and 10th. Estadio GNP Seguros is a large venue that can accommodate more than 65,000 people and is a must-visit for global artists like Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift during their Latin American tours. Performing there serves as a measure of overwhelming power not only in Mexico but across the entire Latin American region.

President Sheinbaum welcomed the confirmation of BTS’s Mexico City concert last January, calling it a ‘historic moment’ as it fulfilled a long-awaited performance for the local youth.
