The performance carried special significance for both the group and their fans. Not only was the concert held in Busan, one of South Korea’s most important cultural cities, but June 13 also marked BTS’s debut anniversary. The event served as a celebration of the group’s journey and their long-awaited return to the stage after years away from large-scale touring.

The Busan concerts attracted approximately 110,000 fans across two nights, creating one of the largest gatherings of BTS supporters since the group resumed full-scale activities. The shows also represented a symbolic homecoming after months of traveling through major cities around the world as part of the Arirang tour.

A Song About Life Beyond the Spotlight

The highlight of the evening came midway through the concert when BTS surprised the audience by performing the Korean version of “Normal,” a track from their latest album Arirang.

Unlike many of the group’s energetic stadium anthems, “Normal” focuses on quieter emotions. The song explores the loneliness, uncertainty, and pressure that can exist behind fame and success. Through heartfelt lyrics, the members reflect on the fears and vulnerabilities that often remain hidden beneath bright stage lights and global recognition.

The decision to debut the Korean version in Busan added another layer of meaning. After spending months performing around the world, BTS returned home and shared a song that speaks about finding comfort in ordinary moments and reconnecting with one’s roots.

As the members sang the emotional lyrics, thousands of fans listened in silence before joining together in a powerful singalong. Many attendees described the performance as one of the most touching moments of the entire concert.

Korean Culture at the Heart of Arirang

The Busan shows were designed to bring the concept of Arirang to life through visuals inspired by Korean culture and tradition.

The production emphasized Korean aesthetics throughout the venue. At the center of the massive 360-degree stage stood a pavilion inspired by Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, one of Korea’s most recognizable architectural landmarks. The structure was reimagined as a modern performance space, blending traditional design with cutting-edge concert technology.

The stage quickly became one of the most talked-about aspects of the concert, particularly among international fans experiencing Korean cultural elements on such a grand scale.

Combined with elaborate lighting effects, large-scale video screens, and immersive staging, the pavilion helped create a visual narrative that reflected the themes of heritage, identity, and belonging that run throughout the Arirang project.

Reaching Fans Around the World

Although tens of thousands attended in person, the Busan concerts reached a much larger audience through global streaming services.

The performances were broadcast live through the fan platform Weverse and made available through live-viewing events in more than 80 countries and regions. This allowed fans worldwide to participate in the anniversary celebration regardless of location.

A Citywide Celebration

To commemorate BTS’s debut anniversary and the arrival of the tour in Busan, the group partnered with the city to organize several special events.

Visitors could enjoy a drone light show over Gwangan Bridge, a large-scale illumination event at Busan Cinema Center, and additional fan activities at Haeundae Beach.
