The group BTS took over the front pages of major Japanese sports newspapers.
On the 17th and 18th, Nikkan Sports, Sports Nippon (Sponichi), Sports Hochi, Sankei Sports, and Daily Sports in Japan all devoted their front pages to BTS’s world tour concert, “BTS World Tour ‘ARIRANG’ in Tokyo.” Convenience stores near Tokyo Dome, where the concert was held, saw a steady stream of fans looking for the papers, which sold out quickly from early morning.

Japanese media gave the concert prominent coverage, highlighting key phrases such as “the full group’s return after seven years,” “Tokyo Dome frenzy,” and “reunion with ARMY, the official fandom of BTS.” They focused on the significance of the performance, especially the group’s long-awaited appearance in Japan as a full lineup and the enthusiastic response from the crowd that filled Tokyo Dome.
BTS’s full-group concert in Japan comes about seven years after the BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself held in July 2019. Both shows on this tour were completely sold out.

The intense attention was also reflected in album sales.
According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), BTS’s fifth studio album, “Arirang,” surpassed cumulative shipments of 750,000 copies as of March, earning Triple Platinum Gold Disc Certification. This marks the group’s second Triple Platinum certification overall, following their fourth Japanese studio album, “Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey.”
“Arirang” received the certification just 11 days after its release on the 20th of last month. It became the first work this year, among both Japanese and overseas albums, to receive Triple Platinum certification.

The RIAJ awards Gold Disc certifications each month based on cumulative shipments, with Gold for 100,000 copies or more, Platinum for 250,000 or more, Double Platinum for 500,000 or more, Triple Platinum for 750,000 or more, and Million for 1 million or more.
BTS also showed strong performance on Japan’s Oricon chart. The group placed five songs on the Oricon Weekly Streaming Surge Ranking for the 20th, covering the period from the 6th to the 12th. Among the new album tracks, “2.0” and “Hooligan” ranked first and third, respectively.
