Backlash is growing around Dowoon after protest trucks demanding his removal from DAY6 appeared outside JYP Entertainment amid recent dating rumors.

The controversy began after online speculation claimed Dowoon was allegedly dating the sister of a social media influencer. While no official confirmation has been made, the rumors quickly spread across Korean online communities and social media platforms.
Soon afterward, photos of protest trucks criticizing Dowoon began circulating online. The trucks reportedly displayed messages such as:
“Yoon Dowoon, leave the group.”

and
“DAY6’s Yoon Dowoon, leave the group. No further statement.”

The protests immediately triggered intense debate among fans, with many arguing that the reaction was wildly disproportionate to the allegations.
A large number of Korean netizens criticized the truck protests themselves rather than Dowoon. Comments on community forums described the demands as “too extreme” and questioned why dating rumors alone should justify forcing an idol out of a group.
Some fans specifically pointed out that DAY6 is already a veteran group more than a decade into its career, making the backlash feel especially excessive compared to how older idols are typically treated.

Others accused newer fans of becoming overly possessive, arguing that idols should be allowed to date privately without facing career-ending consequences.
The situation has reignited a familiar conversation within K-pop fandom culture about parasocial relationships and fan expectations surrounding idols’ personal lives.
While dating “scandals” have historically caused severe backlash in the industry, attitudes among international and Korean fans have gradually shifted in recent years. Many fans now openly criticize protest trucks and boycott campaigns as toxic fandom behavior, especially when they target idols over consensual adult relationships.
Still, organized protest culture remains deeply embedded in parts of the K-pop ecosystem. Trucks demanding apologies, contract terminations, or member removals have become increasingly common whenever controversies erupt.
So far, neither Dowoon nor JYP Entertainment has released a major statement addressing the protest trucks directly.

For now, the reaction online appears heavily divided — though a significant portion of fans seem more disturbed by the intensity of the protests than by the dating rumors themselves.
