Japanese stars Hashimoto Kanna and Nakagawa Taishi are once again making headlines after a new report suggested their relationship is still going strong, despite previous claims that they had broken up.

The couple has been the subject of dating speculation since 2022, when Hashimoto was reportedly seen leaving Nakagawa’s apartment. Although neither star publicly confirmed the relationship, the sightings quickly fueled rumors that the two were dating.

Two years later, the couple was photographed together for the first time. According to Japanese outlet Shukan Bunshun, Hashimoto and Nakagawa had traveled together, providing the strongest evidence yet that the pair were romantically involved.

However, the narrative took a dramatic turn in April 2025, when multiple reports claimed the couple had ended their relationship after approximately two and a half years together. Media outlets alleged that Nakagawa had proposed marriage in 2023, but Hashimoto declined the proposal. The reports further claimed the pair gradually drifted apart toward the end of 2024, ultimately deciding to go their separate ways.

Those breakup rumors were soon challenged.

In July 2025, Josei Seven reported that the two had never actually separated. Instead, the magazine claimed Hashimoto and Nakagawa were living together in an apartment reportedly purchased by Hashimoto for around 300 million yen (approximately $1.9 million USD). The publication also alleged that Nakagawa had proposed once again and that this time Hashimoto accepted, sparking widespread speculation that wedding plans were already underway.

Now, nearly a year later, Josei Seven has released another update that appears to reinforce those earlier claims.

According to the magazine’s upcoming July 2 issue, the couple was spotted together in late May walking through the upscale Omotesando district in Tokyo. Paparazzi photos showed the pair strolling side by side, looking relaxed and comfortable as they spent time together.

An entertainment industry source quoted in the report claimed Hashimoto accompanied Nakagawa on a shopping trip ahead of his upcoming birthday. Because both actors maintain demanding filming schedules, the insider suggested the outing was likely one of the rare occasions when they happened to have the same day off.

The latest sighting has quickly reignited speculation that the two are not only still dating but may also be preparing for marriage after previously reported engagement rumors.

Neither Hashimoto Kanna nor Nakagawa Taishi has commented on the latest report or publicly addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding their relationship.

For now, however, the newly published photos appear to contradict last year’s breakup reports, leaving many fans convinced that one of Japan’s most talked-about celebrity couples is still very much together.
