The first seasons of Dutton Ranch and Marshals may have ended on separate stories, but their finales share one striking similarity that has sparked speculation about a future crossover.

Both Yellowstone spin-offs conclude with a devastating kidnapping that leaves their central families in crisis.

In Marshals, Tate is abducted by the criminal family hunting Kayce Dutton and his team. Believing he is simply going on a fishing trip, Tate has no idea he has walked directly into enemy hands.

Meanwhile, Dutton Ranch closes with Carter being kidnapped by a drug cartel led by Mariano Reyes, turning Beth and Rip’s fight into a desperate mission to rescue the son they consider family.

The parallel endings immediately caught fans’ attention, and the similarities became an even bigger topic after stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were asked whether the matching cliffhangers were merely a coincidence—or something more deliberate.

Speaking with TV Insider, the two actors offered playful but intriguing responses.

When asked if the similarities were intentional, Reilly smiled and simply replied, “Maybe.”

Hauser then admitted that he would love the opportunity to reunite with Luke Grimes, who now leads Marshals as Kayce Dutton.

“I’d love to work with Luke. Kelly and I both saw him in New York during the Upfronts, and I really miss him.”

Reilly quickly agreed.

“I miss him too.”

Their comments have only fueled growing speculation that the Yellowstone universe could be preparing its first major crossover between the two sequel series.

The idea becomes even more believable when considering how both finales naturally set up a shared storyline.

At the end of Marshals, Tate is secretly taken to Texas, although neither he nor Kayce initially realizes he has fallen into the hands of dangerous criminals.

At the same time, Beth and Rip are preparing to launch an all-out search for Carter after Mariano’s cartel abducts him.

Those two storylines could easily intersect.

If Kayce travels to Texas to rescue Tate, he could also become involved in Beth and Rip’s search for Carter. Given Kayce’s military background and experience as a U.S. Marshal, his skills would make him a valuable ally against the cartel threatening his sister’s family.

Conversely, Beth and Rip could step in to help Kayce rescue Tate, reuniting the remaining members of the Dutton family in a mission that spans both series.

Many fans believe the crossover practically writes itself.

Reilly also revealed that the potential reunion carries emotional significance beyond the action.

She explained that Beth misses her brother and would love to see the family reunited.

“Let’s go find our boys. Beth misses her brother, so I’d really love that to happen.”

She added that the cast members remain incredibly close off-screen, describing actors such as Wes Bentley and Kelsey Asbille as family.

According to Reilly, she and Hauser are eager to bring as many familiar Yellowstone faces back into their world as possible whenever the story allows.

Hauser echoed those feelings, saying he would welcome any opportunity to return to Montana or have Luke Grimes appear in Dutton Ranch.

While he acknowledged that the writers would first need to find the right story, he made it clear that everyone involved is enthusiastic about the possibility.

After all, by the end of Yellowstone, Beth, Rip, and Kayce remained among the few surviving members of the Dutton family and were still on good terms. Their separate spin-offs have largely kept them apart, but the twin kidnapping storylines now provide perhaps the strongest narrative reason yet to bring them back together.

Nothing has been officially confirmed regarding a crossover, and neither Paramount nor the creative team has announced plans to merge the two series.

However, with both finales ending in nearly identical fashion and the lead actors openly expressing interest in sharing the screen again, the question no longer seems to be whether the worlds of Dutton Ranch and Marshals could collide—it may simply be when.

If Season 2 delivers that long-awaited reunion, fans could finally see Beth, Rip, and Kayce fighting side by side once again as they race to save the people they love most.
