According to information published through the music video review section on KBS on May 7, G-Dragon participated as a featured artist on aespa’s upcoming pre-release single, Whole Different Animal, also known as “WDA.”
The track is part of aespa’s highly anticipated second full-length album, LEMONADE. “WDA” will first be released as a digital pre-release single across streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on May 11, ahead of the album’s full launch later this month.

What shocked fans the most is that SM Entertainment had never officially announced G-Dragon’s involvement beforehand. Until now, the agency had only confirmed the title and release schedule for the pre-release track, keeping the featured artist completely hidden from promotional materials.
The collaboration only became public after viewers discovered G-Dragon’s name listed during the official music video review process, instantly sending fans into a frenzy online.
Many fans described the collaboration as one of the most unexpected K-pop pairings of the year, especially considering the massive influence both G-Dragon and aespa hold individually within the industry.

As soon as the news spread, social media exploded with reactions. Fans began speculating about the song’s concept, sound, and whether G-Dragon would contribute rap verses, songwriting, or production elements to the track.
The collaboration is particularly significant because G-Dragon is widely regarded as one of K-pop’s most influential artists and creative figures, while aespa represents one of the leading fourth-generation girl groups globally.
Some fans also pointed out the symbolic nature of the collaboration, calling it a “passing of the torch” moment between different generations of K-pop stars.
Meanwhile, anticipation for LEMONADE continues to rise. The full album, including all tracks, is scheduled for release at 1 p.m. on May 29 and will also be available in physical format.

With G-Dragon’s surprise feature now confirmed, many fans believe “WDA” could become one of the most talked-about K-pop releases of the month even before the full album officially drops.
