Television personality Jang Sung Kyu has surprised viewers by sharing a deeply personal story about undergoing chest surgery without informing his wife beforehand.

The revelation came in a newly uploaded video on his YouTube channel, where Jang read relationship concerns submitted by subscribers and offered his advice.

One letter came from a man who explained that he had been married for four years. According to the viewer, his wife had struggled with insecurity about her chest for many years and had repeatedly expressed a desire to undergo cosmetic surgery. Although he tried to persuade her not to do it, she eventually had the procedure without discussing it with him first.

The husband admitted that after the surgery, he unexpectedly found himself feeling uncomfortable with physical intimacy. His reaction eventually led to a heated argument, during which his wife broke down in tears.

After listening to the story, Jang revealed that he had experienced something surprisingly similar.

“To be honest, I also had breast surgery,” he told viewers.

Jang explained that he suffered from gynecomastia, a medical condition that causes enlarged breast tissue in men. He underwent surgery to remove the excess tissue but admitted that he also made the decision without consulting his wife beforehand.

“My case was gynecomastia, so I had surgery to remove it. But I also did it without discussing it with my wife,” he said.

He went on to explain that his wife had long known how much the condition affected his confidence. Even before they were married, she had seen how deeply self-conscious he felt about his appearance.

According to Jang, the surgery dramatically changed his confidence and quality of life.

He recalled constantly trying to hide his chest by hunching his shoulders or pulling his shirt forward, even while playing basketball during his school years.

“Because of my chest, my shoulders were always hunched. Even when I played basketball at school, I would always pull my clothes forward,” he shared.

Jang emphasized that his motivation had nothing to do with attracting other people or showing off his appearance.

“I absolutely did not get the surgery to show myself to someone,” he explained.

Instead, he described the procedure as something that finally freed him from years of insecurity.

Because of that experience, he said he could understand why the subscriber’s wife ultimately chose to go through with surgery despite her husband’s objections.

“If her satisfaction is high, she probably feels a sense of freedom she has never experienced in her life. I felt that too,” Jang said.

Rather than focusing on the fact that she made the decision alone, he encouraged the husband to recognize the emotional burden she had likely carried for years.

“I think it would be good to just congratulate your wife,” he advised.
