A legal case involving BTS member Kim Seok-jin, better known as Jin, has taken a new turn after the woman accused of kissing the singer without his consent formally objected to the charges against her ahead of trial.

According to reports, the Japanese woman in her 50s, who was indicted earlier this year on allegations of indecent assault, has submitted an official objection through her legal representative to the Seoul Eastern District Court. The filing is viewed as a signal that she intends to contest aspects of the prosecution’s case and fully exercise her legal defense rights during the upcoming proceedings.

The case stems from an incident that occurred shortly after Jin completed his mandatory military service.

In June 2025, Jin held a special fan event at Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium, where he greeted supporters through a free-hug session celebrating his return. The event was intended as a heartfelt reunion between the BTS star and fans who had waited for his discharge.

However, the celebration quickly became controversial after one attendee allegedly crossed a personal boundary during the interaction.

According to investigators, the woman embraced Jin and unexpectedly kissed him on the cheek during the event. Video footage and witness accounts reportedly showed the singer appearing visibly uncomfortable and turning his head away immediately after the contact occurred.

The incident might have remained a brief controversy had it not been amplified online afterward.
