Even Kayce Dutton has to wait for football.

Even Kayce Dutton has to wait for football. Sorry, Kayce!
CBS has finally announced when Marshals will return, so you can officially circle the date: Sunday, October 4, 2026. Luke Grimes will be back as Kayce, continuing the next chapter of his story after Yellowstone—one that traded daily ranch battles for an elite U.S. Marshals unit, but kept plenty of danger, complicated family history, and that unmistakable Dutton tendency to carry the weight of the world beneath a cowboy hat.
The renewal came only weeks after the show premiered, so CBS clearly wasn’t interested in making fans sweat for too long. Season 1 began as more of a case-of-the-week drama, then gradually dug deeper into Kayce’s grief, his life after the Yellowstone Ranch, and the question of who he is when protecting that land is no longer his entire purpose. Production on Season 2 began in Park City, Utah, in June—and ThePioneerWoman.com team even spotted Luke Grimes around town the following month!

But Season 2 is returning with one small scheduling change. The October 4 premiere will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET, rather than the show’s usual 8 p.m. time. West Coast viewers will still watch at 8 p.m. PT.
The reason is simple: CBS is starting the evening with an NFL doubleheader, followed by 60 Minutes at 7:30 p.m. ET. Marshals will take over at 8:30 and the Season 4 premiere of Tracker will close out the night at 9:30 p.m. ET. Kayce has handled cattle thieves, family feuds, and plenty worse—but the NFL schedule remains undefeated!

Thankfully, this is only a premiere-night adjustment. Beginning Sunday, October 11, Marshals moves right back into its regular 8 p.m. ET slot, with Tracker following at 9. New episodes will also be available to stream on Paramount+.
So the important part is settled: Kayce returns October 4. Just give him an extra half hour that first night!
