One of the biggest debates among Dutton Ranch fans following Episode 7 centered on Oreana Jackson’s shocking decision during the 10-Petal Ranch gala. Many viewers believed she had deliberately betrayed her father, Rob-Will Jackson, by leading Beulah Jackson directly to him, ultimately setting off the chain of events that ended with Beulah suffering a heart attack.
According to Natalie Alyn Lind, however, that’s not what Oreana was trying to do at all.
The actress recently clarified that while Oreana absolutely knew she was creating chaos, her goal was never to destroy her father.
Instead, Lind described Oreana as someone who genuinely enjoys stirring conflict.
“Oreana loves creating chaos.”
That mindset explains why she intentionally allowed Beulah to discover Rob-Will at the gala. Oreana understood that bringing the two face-to-face would almost certainly ignite another explosive confrontation between her parents.
But there was an important difference between causing drama and causing tragedy.
Natalie explained that Oreana wanted to see Beulah lose her temper, wanted Rob-Will and Beulah to clash once again, and even wanted the already fractured Jackson family to explode into another public confrontation. The emotional fireworks fascinated her.
What she never expected was how serious the consequences would become.
According to Lind, Oreana never imagined Beulah would suffer a heart attack during the confrontation.
“I don’t think Oreana wanted things to go that far.”
It marks the first time the actress has directly addressed one of Season 1’s biggest fan theories, making it clear that Oreana’s actions came from emotional recklessness rather than calculated betrayal.
Oreana Still Loves Her Father
Perhaps the biggest surprise from Lind’s comments is her insistence that Oreana still deeply loves Rob-Will.
Following Episode 7, many viewers concluded that Oreana had finally turned against her father after witnessing years of dysfunction within the Jackson family. Natalie strongly disagreed with that interpretation.
According to her, Rob-Will remains the parent Oreana feels closest to because of the way he has always treated her.
Unlike Beulah, who constantly tries to discipline and control her daughter, Rob-Will has always been the permissive parent.
Whenever Oreana wanted something, Rob-Will’s response was usually:
“If that’s what you want, then go ahead.”
Beulah, meanwhile, almost always responded with restrictions and rules.
As Lind explained, Beulah represents authority and control, while Rob-Will represents freedom and unconditional acceptance. That difference has shaped Oreana’s loyalty throughout her life.
Even though Rob-Will is far from being a perfect father, Oreana continues to stand by him because he has always allowed her to be herself.
Rob-Will And Oreana’s Bond Is Damaged—But Not Broken
Natalie’s comments are echoed by Jai Courtney, who portrays Rob-Will Jackson.
Courtney openly acknowledged that Rob-Will has failed as a father in many ways. Throughout Oreana’s childhood, he frequently neglected her, wasn’t there when she needed him most, and made choices that caused lasting emotional pain.
Yet despite all of those mistakes, Courtney insists one thing has never changed.
Rob-Will genuinely loves his daughter.

According to the actor, no matter how complicated their relationship becomes, Oreana will always remain “his little girl.”
It’s the first time Courtney has directly confirmed that Rob-Will’s love for Oreana is completely sincere, even if he’s often incapable of expressing it in healthy ways.
Together, the comments from both Natalie Alyn Lind and Jai Courtney paint a much more nuanced picture of the Jackson family dynamic. Oreana didn’t betray Rob-Will out of hatred, nor is Rob-Will indifferent toward his daughter. Instead, their relationship is built on genuine love complicated by years of poor decisions, emotional damage, and family dysfunction.
As Dutton Ranch heads into Season 2, that fragile father-daughter bond appears poised to remain one of the series’ most emotionally compelling storylines.
