With only three episodes remaining in Season 1, Dutton Ranch appears ready to push one of its most important characters into dangerous territory.
According to the newly released preview for Episode 7, “Den of Sin,” Oreana Jackson may be facing a choice that could change the course of the entire season: loyalty to her father or loyalty to Carter.
And based on what fans saw in the trailer, the outlook for Carter is becoming increasingly grim.
For much of Season 1, Oreana—played by Natalie Alyn Lind—has been portrayed as a conflicted young woman struggling to escape the influence of her father, Rob Will.
That struggle may now be over.
The most talked-about moment in the Episode 7 trailer comes when Rob Will unexpectedly returns and surprises family matriarch Beulah Jackson. Standing nearby is Oreana, and many viewers have focused on the expression on her face.
Instead of looking worried or conflicted, she appears almost pleased.
For some fans, that smile suggests Oreana may be embracing her father’s plans rather than resisting them.
Rob Will’s War Is Just Beginning
Rob Will has made it clear that he intends to reclaim control of the ranch by any means necessary.
His growing arsenal of weapons and willingness to use violence suggest that a major confrontation is approaching.
The trailer hints that the conflict between Rob Will and Rip Wheeler is far from over. Their first clash earlier in the season ended without a decisive winner, but few viewers believe that will remain the case.
If Yellowstone history has taught fans anything, it is that men who openly challenge Rip Wheeler rarely enjoy happy endings.
Many viewers expect another showdown before the season concludes.
What Happens to Carter?
The bigger question may not be what happens to Rob Will.
It may be what happens to Carter.
Throughout the season, Carter has become emotionally invested in his relationship with Oreana. In Episode 6, he finally told her he loved her.
Her response was noticeably restrained.
Rather than fully returning his feelings, Oreana appeared hesitant and emotionally distant.
That scene now looks much more significant in hindsight.

If Oreana ultimately chooses her father over Carter, she could unintentionally place him directly in the middle of a war between the Jackson family and the ranch.
Some fans have even begun speculating that Carter could become collateral damage in a conflict he never intended to join.
Is Oreana Becoming the Villain?
One of the reasons Oreana has become such a popular character is her unpredictability.
The series has repeatedly shown the effects of her traumatic childhood and complicated family history. At times she appears vulnerable and sympathetic. At others, she displays a darker side that makes viewers question her true intentions.
Episode 7 may finally reveal which side wins.
Rather than being manipulated by Rob Will, there is a growing possibility that Oreana willingly supports him.
And that possibility is far more frightening.
The Mystery Gunshot
Another moment from the trailer has sparked intense fan speculation.
Around the 21-second mark, a woman appears to fire a gun through what looks like damaged blinds inside a modest home or business.
The shooter’s identity is unclear.
One popular theory suggests it could be Whitney, the widow of murdered 10 Petal foreman Wes, seeking revenge after the events of recent episodes.
The problem with that theory is determining who the target would be.

Chet is already dead.
Rob Will remains too central to the story to be eliminated so early.
The same can be said for Joaquin.
As a result, the mystery gunshot remains one of the trailer’s biggest unanswered questions.
The Calm Before the Storm
Officially, Episode 7 centers on the 190th anniversary celebration of the 10 Petal Ranch and Beulah’s decision to begin passing leadership to the next generation.
But beneath the festivities, the trailer suggests that major conflict is brewing.
Beth and Rip spent much of the season rebuilding trust with Beulah and stabilizing the ranch after months of turmoil.
That progress may be about to disappear.
With Rob Will back in the picture and tensions escalating, many fans believe Episode 7 will serve as the final setup for an explosive two-part conclusion in Episodes 8 and 9.
The ranch has survived family feuds, betrayals, and multiple deaths already.
But if Oreana truly aligns herself with her father, the most devastating battle of the season may still be ahead.
And Carter could be the first casualty.
