K-Pop fans are once again speculating about the relationship between the members of 2NE1 after recent anniversary posts unexpectedly brought Park Bom back into the spotlight.

On May 17, fellow member Sandara Park celebrated the group’s 17th debut anniversary by uploading photos featuring all four original members together — including Park Bom, CL, and Gong Minzy. Alongside the photos, Sandara simply wrote, “Happy 17th anniversary~!!!” Minzy later uploaded the same group photo to her own account with the caption, “Happy 17th Anniversary to us.”

What would normally be seen as a nostalgic anniversary tribute quickly became a hot topic online because Park Bom has been noticeably absent from recent 2NE1 activities. The group has reportedly continued promotions as a three-member lineup while Bom remains on hiatus due to health concerns.

But the situation became more complicated earlier this year when rumors of tension between the members began spreading across Korean online communities and social media. Much of the speculation started after Park Bom uploaded a cryptic post in March that appeared to reference her long-running medication controversy while also seemingly mentioning Sandara Park. Fans immediately began analyzing the wording, with some believing it hinted at conflict inside the group.
