K-Pop fans are once again speculating about the relationship between the members of 2NE1 after recent anniversary posts unexpectedly brought Park Bom back into the spotlight.

On May 17, fellow member Sandara Park celebrated the group’s 17th debut anniversary by uploading photos featuring all four original members together — including Park Bom, CL, and Gong Minzy. Alongside the photos, Sandara simply wrote, “Happy 17th anniversary~!!!” Minzy later uploaded the same group photo to her own account with the caption, “Happy 17th Anniversary to us.”
What would normally be seen as a nostalgic anniversary tribute quickly became a hot topic online because Park Bom has been noticeably absent from recent 2NE1 activities. The group has reportedly continued promotions as a three-member lineup while Bom remains on hiatus due to health concerns.
But the situation became more complicated earlier this year when rumors of tension between the members began spreading across Korean online communities and social media. Much of the speculation started after Park Bom uploaded a cryptic post in March that appeared to reference her long-running medication controversy while also seemingly mentioning Sandara Park. Fans immediately began analyzing the wording, with some believing it hinted at conflict inside the group.

The rumors intensified after Sandara publicly denied any involvement with drugs following the online speculation. Although she did not directly attack Park Bom, the timing of her response caused many fans to believe there was genuine discomfort behind the scenes. Around the same period, netizens also noticed that Sandara and CL allegedly unfollowed Park Bom on social media, adding even more fuel to the feud rumors.
Fans then began pointing to several promotional posts where only three members appeared together without Bom. Those uploads led many to assume that 2NE1 had unofficially shifted into a trio and that the relationship with Park Bom may have deteriorated more seriously than initially believed.
That is why the new anniversary posts suddenly became such a major discussion point inside the fandom. Even though the photos appear to be older images rather than newly taken pictures, many fans believe the decision to include Park Bom at all carries symbolic meaning.
For some longtime fans, the uploads felt like a quiet attempt to reassure the public that the bond between the members still exists despite recent controversies and hiatuses. Others, however, remain skeptical and believe the posts were simply made to honor the group’s full history rather than signal reconciliation.

The reactions online have been sharply divided. Some fans described the anniversary uploads as “healing” after months of tension and speculation. Others argued that if the members truly wanted to shut down feud rumors, they would appear publicly together again instead of relying on old photos.
Still, many Blackjacks — the official fandom of 2NE1 — viewed the moment emotionally because it reminded them how important Park Bom remains to the group’s legacy. Despite years of controversies, hiatuses, and lineup uncertainty, many fans still

see 2NE1 as incomplete without all four members together.
The discussion also highlights how heavily fans now monitor idols’ social media behavior. Simple actions like unfollowing accounts, excluding members from photos, or posting vague captions can quickly spiral into major controversy within K-pop fandom culture. In 2NE1’s case, every interaction between the members has been placed under a microscope since their reunion activities began.
For now, neither Park Bom nor the other members have directly addressed the feud rumors in detail. But the anniversary posts alone were enough to reignite debate over whether the members have privately repaired their relationship — or whether fans are simply reading hope into nostalgic photos.
