According to multiple Korean media reports, TWICE member Tzuyu has decided not to renew her exclusive contract with JYP Entertainment, bringing her 11-year journey with the company to an end. Despite the reported departure, sources say she is expected to continue participating in TWICE’s group activities, allowing the nine-member group to remain active together.

The report, first published by News1, claims that Tzuyu recently reached the decision not to sign a new contract with JYP Entertainment. While she is reportedly preparing to pursue the next chapter of her career outside the agency, she is expected to remain committed to TWICE’s promotions, albums, concerts, and other group schedules under a separate arrangement.
The news comes at a significant moment for both TWICE and JYP Entertainment. In July 2022, all nine members made headlines by unanimously renewing their contracts ahead of their original expiration dates, a rare achievement for a major K-pop girl group. However, industry insiders have suggested that the group’s second contract renewal negotiations have been far more complicated as the members have expanded their individual careers and explored new opportunities.

According to the report, JYP Entertainment has been facing increased pressure during this latest round of negotiations. The company is said to be particularly concerned about retaining TWICE, especially as some of its newer girl groups have not achieved the level of commercial growth many expected. As one of JYP’s most successful and globally recognized acts, TWICE remains a key part of the company’s business.
If the reports prove accurate, Tzuyu would join a growing list of K-pop idols who leave their original agencies while continuing to promote with their groups. In recent years, several artists have successfully managed individual careers under different companies while maintaining group activities through separate agreements, demonstrating that leaving an agency does not necessarily signal the end of a group’s future.
For ONCEs, the reported arrangement may offer reassurance. Although Tzuyu’s management for solo activities could change, fans would still be able to see her performing alongside the other eight members of TWICE during official group promotions.

At this time, however, JYP Entertainment has not confirmed the report. The agency has yet to issue an official statement regarding Tzuyu’s contract status, leaving fans waiting for clarification on whether the reported decision has been finalized.
Until JYP releases an official announcement, the report remains unconfirmed. Nevertheless, it has already sparked widespread discussion among fans about Tzuyu’s future, TWICE’s next chapter, and what the group’s second contract renewal period could mean for one of K-pop’s most successful girl groups.
