Kane brings extensive experience in Canadian television, most notably as the creator of the legal drama Diggstown. The series made history as Canada’s first drama to feature a Black woman as the lead character and went on to run for four seasons. Throughout his career, Kane has built a reputation as a skilled storyteller and producer with experience handling character-driven dramas. His recent credits include executive producing the television movie Recipe for Romance and working on the thriller series The Ridge, making him a notable choice to lead Sullivan’s Crossing into its next chapter.

The showrunner change comes at a complicated time for the series. Although Sullivan’s Crossing has already received a fifth-season renewal from CTV in Canada, its future with The CW in the United States remains uncertain. The CW has not yet officially confirmed Season 5, with reports indicating that discussions and final decisions are still underway. Roth’s exit from the showrunner position also follows another major shake-up involving the departure of Scott Patterson, who played Sully Sullivan. In addition, she is currently working on Thunder Point, another adaptation of author Robyn Carr’s work, which she is producing with Christopher E. Perry through Reel World in partnership with Fremantle and CTV.
