After additional inquiry, the police submitted another arrest warrant request for both A and another individual, charging them with intentional bodily harm resulting in death. However, the Uijeongbu Court denied the arrest warrants, citing that the suspects had fixed residences and posed no risk of destroying evidence or fleeing.

The case was transferred to the prosecution the following week, while the suspects were not detained. This delay in apprehending the culprits has caused immense distress and frustration for the victim’s family. Kim’s family members have expressed their anger over the slow response of the authorities, particularly the one-hour delay in getting Kim to the hospital, which cost him a chance for survival.

In their grief, the family expressed their deep sorrow, stating, “It’s been a long time, but the ones who killed my son are still walking freely on the streets.” Kim Chang Min had worked tirelessly in the film industry for many years, and he had just begun to achieve success when this heartbreaking tragedy occurred. His family emphasized that despite the progress he had made in his career, his life was cut short in such a violent and unjust way.

Kim’s younger sister also spoke out, sharing her horror at the situation. “It’s terrifying to know that the killers are living less than 10 kilometers away from our house.”

Throughout his career, Kim Chang Min made significant contributions to the South Korean film industry. He directed films such as Someone’s Daughter (2016), Exit No. 3, and Guui Station (2019), as well as producing notable works like Man of Will (2017), The Witch: Part 1.
