A former Celebrity Big Brother star has opened up about her brutal run-in with Good Morning Britain‘s Richard Madeley – claiming that he made her feel small with a cutting insult.
Chantelle Houghton, now 42, rose to fame back in 2006 when she was just 23 and entered the Celebrity Big Brother house as a regular person.
Tasked with convincing big names like glamour model Jodie Marsh and TV presenter Michael Barrymore that she was also a celebrity – albeit one they had never heard of – Chantelle went on to win the show.
After that, it was very much a case of life imitating art, and she became a celebrity for real, but not every famous face she encountered was willing to accept her as one of their own.
She told Betway: ‘Richard Madeley, he was so rude. I went on a TV show, I think it was Richard and Judy on Channel 5 and he just made me feel really small.
‘He was like, “Oh, the nation might love you now, but it won’t last. Soon they’ll be tearing you to shreds and no one will be interested in you anymore”.’

Chantelle captioned the nation’s hearts as the only non-celebrity on her series of Celebrity Big Brother – winning the series against all odds

Unfortunately for the reality TV star, Richard wasn’t the only celeb who allegedly treated her differently.
She said: ‘It just made me feel tiny. Ruby Wax was similar. She said, “Oh, you’ll only be around for 15 minutes, so see you later.”‘
But Chantelle said that not everyone was dismissive of her and she was welcomed by some celebrities, including beloved chef Jamie Oliver.
She revealed: ‘Jamie Oliver has always been one of the nicest celebrities. We both appeared on a show together and he took the time to talk to me about sudden fame and coping with it.’
‘He even invited me out to eat with his wife, Jools. Dermot O’Leary is also wonderful. I ran into him recently, and he’s just such a nice man.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to a representative for Richard Madeley for comment.
Following her exit from Big Brother, Chantelle has remained in the spotlight and appeared on the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Weakest Link, and Hotel Babylon.
She even braved Big Brother again back in 2010, entering the Ultimate Big Brother house and proved that she was as popular as ever when she came in third place.

Chantelle’s comments about life in the spotlight come after she revealed the surprising secret to her whopping five stone weight loss – giving up yoghurt.
In a new interview, Chantelle has now revealed she cut out yoghurt and sugar which led to the weight coming off.
The mum-of-one said she overhauled her life when she realised that ‘sugar is the enemy.’
She explained: ‘I was five stone heavier than I should have been and eating a yoghurt that had four teaspoons of sugar.
‘I could eat four of those yoghurts easily. I cut out sugar, and the weight started dropping off.’
She added to New magazine: ‘I stay away from processed food too, I drink lots of water and make everything.’

Chantelle also revealed online trolls have cruelly called her ‘fat, pregnant and anorexic’.
The TV personality had previously said she cut alcohol out of her diet because of its high sugar content.
She was also force to deny claims from trolls she has taken jab weight-loss Ozempic when she revealed her five stone drop.
Chantelle first embarked on her weight loss transformation after reaching 13 stone following her 2021 split from ex-fiancé Michael Strutt.
The TV personality used the negative comments as motivation and embarked on her weight loss journey that saw her drop an impressive five stone without stepping into a gym.
Chantelle committed herself to a strict diet, avoiding processed foods and focusing on healthy eating.
