Who Is Maggie's Husband Liam on 'Sullivan's Crossing'? Surprise Reveal Explained Before Season 4

Sullivan’s Crossing episode 4 season 2 revealed Maggie’s true feelings for Liam, and they could spell trouble for her and Cal. Dr. Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) was shocked when her long-lost love, Liam Davies (Marcus Rosner) showed up, calling himself her husband. Maggie, whose romance with Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) was finally truly beginning, was shocked to see Liam, and it was clear that she’d once had very strong feelings for him.

During Sullivan’s Crossing season 3, Maggie had told Lola Gunderson (Amalia Williamson) that Liam was a summer fling, but it soon became obvious that he was so much more to her. Through flashbacks, Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 revealed that Maggie and Liam had gotten married after knowing each other for only a very short time during their whirlwind romance in Europe.

However, after journalist Liam was called away on a last-minute assignment, she never heard from him again, and had the marriage annulled. Liam was in town only to get the annulment papers so that he could get his visa application to move to Europe. It’s eventually revealed that the annulment papers never went through, so Maggie and Liam were still married. They decided to get a divorce, but Liam stayed at the Crossing while it was finalized. Although Maggie projected outwardly that she was upset and annoyed by this turn of events, after Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episode 2, her true feelings for Liam were obvious: she still loves him.

Maggie Is Very Concerned About Liam’s Well-Being

During Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episode 1, when Liam got his foot stuck in a bear trap, Maggie was extremely worried about him and rushed to his aid. After he refused to go to the hospital to get stitches, she tended to his injury, but his wound reopened, and she accompanied him to the clinic to get patched up. Although Maggie didn’t speak to Liam on the car ride back, and then told him that she wanted the divorce so that she never had to see him again, it was clear after he walked away that she regretted her words and didn’t mean them. She then remembered when he left her for his assignment, which made it even more obvious that she still loved him.

At the end of the episode, Maggie told Sydney Shandon (Lindura) that the silver lining to her breakup with Liam was that she never would’ve met Cal without it, but she seemed to have conflicted feelings. She then went to visit Liam at his cabin to try to clear the air so that things didn’t get any more awkward. She found him shirtless hanging clothes on a clothesline, and was shocked to see that he had scars across his back. Maggie then walked away without him knowing that she was there.

Maggie’s concern for Liam’s well-being proves that she still cares about him. She doesn’t want to see him in any kind of pain, and she sympathizes with him, although she doesn’t always show it to him. Maggie loves Liam, even if it’s not romantically, although it seems clear from her strong reactions to him that there’s still passion between them.

Maggie Can’t Stop Thinking About Liam

Sullivan's Crossing Actor Marcus Rosner As Liam In Season 3

Even though Maggie is in a relationship with Cal, her thoughts, both conscious and subconscious are with Liam. Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episode 1 began with Maggie having a steamy dream about Liam in which they were reunited. In the dream, she told him that she was with Cal, but, when he asked for another chance, she kissed him. The dream ended when Cal woke Maggie up, and she didn’t answer when he asked her what she’d been dreaming about.

Maggie also had many flashbacks about Liam throughout Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episodes 1 and 2, and the common thread among them was that she was remembering how much they loved each other. Even when she recalled him leaving, she thought about how the last words that they said to each other were, “I love you.” For someone who’s in a relationship with a different man, Maggie spends a lot of her time thinking about Liam.

Maggie Felt Alive With Liam

Sullivan's Crossing Watch-Along Club is BACK with Steamy and Sentimental Season 3 Premiere

In Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episode 2, Maggie confided in Lola and Sydney about why she married Liam. Although at first she said that she didn’t want to talk about it, she eventually admitted that she married him because he challenged her and made her feel alive in a way that she hadn’t felt before. Maggie stated that life was a constant adventure with him. When Lola asked what happened, Maggie said that she guessed that Liam finally realized that she wasn’t as adventurous as he thought she was. When Sydney asked if he said that, Maggie responded that he didn’t have to. Maggie then said that it didn’t matter, and that breakups were awful.

In Maggie’s flashbacks with Liam, she really does seem like a totally different person. With Cal, she’s very subdued, and their energy together matches the slowed-down lifestyle of Timberlake. However, she and Liam had a spark that was electrifying. Life is definitely not an adventure for Maggie and Cal, who’ve settled into the monotony of everyday life at the Crossing together. Although they both seemed to have wanted that life when they first came there, Maggie appears to miss that side of herself, and has been reminded of it ever since she saw Liam again.

Although Maggie is fighting it, it’s very clear from Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 episodes 1 and 2 that she still loves Liam. What this will mean for her relationship with Cal is still unknown, but the fact that they’re still husband and wife would make it very convenient for them to pick up where they left off. Maggie is going to have to be honest with herself, Liam, and Cal, in order to move forward with her life. She’ll have to decide if Liam is her past or her future, but she definitely still loves him in the present.
