For years, The Chosen has steadily expanded from a crowd-funded television project into one of the world’s most successful faith-based dramas. Now, with Season 6 approaching, the series is preparing to enter what creator Dallas Jenkins believes is its most significant chapter.

On Monday, the production officially released the first teaser trailer for Season 6, offering viewers their earliest glimpse of the story that will portray the final hours before Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
Before unveiling the footage during a livestream, Jenkins explained why the trailer meant so much to everyone involved with the production.
“We put a lot of time and effort into this because this is important.”
According to Jenkins, the upcoming season carries a weight unlike anything the series has attempted before.
“This season is the most important and biggest and heaviest season we’ve ever done.”
Yet despite focusing on one of the darkest moments in biblical history, Jenkins believes audiences will discover emotions they may not expect.
Rather than presenting only sorrow and suffering, he says the story also contains moments filled with hope, joy and meaning.
“But there’s also moments of pure joy and meaning as well, which you wouldn’t expect in a season about the crucifixion. But I really want you to lean into this.”
The newly released teaser, running approximately one and a half minutes, reflects that emotional contrast almost immediately.
It opens with an intimate and heartfelt conversation between Mary, the mother of Jesus, and Jesus Himself before shifting toward the increasingly tense atmosphere surrounding His final day.
As the trailer progresses, viewers witness scenes of unrest spreading throughout Jerusalem while the events leading to the crucifixion rapidly unfold.
Season 6 will focus on the final 24 hours of Jesus Christ’s earthly life, known to Christians as Good Friday.
The story will depict Jesus’ arrest, His path toward crucifixion and the growing fear among His disciples as they struggle to understand what is happening around them.
Their confusion eventually causes many of them to scatter, leaving them emotionally broken as events spiral beyond their control.
Cast members have repeatedly suggested that audiences should prepare for an experience unlike any previous season.
Abe Bueno-Jallad, who portrays Big James, recently described the emotional intensity awaiting viewers.
“I say this every year, but I truly think that this time, this is going to be the most intense that they’ve ever seen us go.”
He explained that nearly every aspect of the storytelling has become more urgent.
“The pace, the drama, all of that has been picked up, and you can feel it. It’s so palpable.”
According to the actor, there is little room left for ordinary conversations.
“There’s not a casual conversation in any scene.”
Instead, every character is responding to rapidly unfolding events.
“Everything is going. The wheels are turning. People are trying to stop things from happening — and they’re not able to.”
Those comments closely match what audiences see throughout the teaser, where every frame suggests mounting tension as history approaches one of its defining moments.
While the trailer offers several emotional moments, Dallas Jenkins believes the true heart of Season 6 goes beyond the historical events themselves.
Earlier this year, the creator explained that one idea serves as the foundation for nearly every storyline in the upcoming season.
“Season 6 is really a lot about surrender.”

For Jenkins, that theme extends well beyond Jesus’ journey toward the cross.
It also reflects the emotional struggles experienced by the people surrounding Him.
Viewers will watch Jesus willingly embrace a path filled with unimaginable suffering, while His closest followers wrestle with fear, uncertainty and disappointment as everything they believed seemed to collapse around them.
Jenkins described that contrast by saying:
“We’re watching Jesus ultimately surrender to something that was extraordinarily painful.”
At the same time, the disciples face their own painful reality.
“The disciples confused, broken, wondering, having to surrender.”
Rather than presenting surrender as weakness, Jenkins hopes audiences will recognize it as an act of faith.
He wants viewers to leave Season 6 reflecting on a deeply personal question.
“Can you surrender even when you don’t always understand people?”
That message appears to shape nearly every scene featured in the newly released teaser.

Moments of grief, fear and uncertainty are balanced with quiet expressions of compassion and unwavering purpose, suggesting that the emotional impact of the season will come not only from the crucifixion itself but from how every character responds to it.
Beyond the story, the production itself has reached a scale never before attempted by the series.
Jenkins described Season 6 as the most ambitious project the team has ever undertaken.
“The biggest we’ve ever done without a close second.”
According to him, nearly every aspect of production demanded far more time than previous seasons.
Filming alone became the longest in the show’s history.
“It’s taking the longest to film, by far.”
The technical work behind the scenes has also expanded significantly.

Visual effects, post-production and especially the show’s growing multilingual release have required dramatically more resources.
As Jenkins explained:
“The visual effects, the translations, especially, take at least two to three times longer than any season we’ve ever done.”
That investment reflects the global audience the series has built over the past several years.
For the first time, all six episodes and the season finale will debut in dozens of languages simultaneously instead of adding translations after the original release.
Season 6 is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Prime Video this November.
The release will begin with the first three episodes arriving on November 15, followed by one new episode each week.
Episode 4 will debut on November 22, Episode 5 on November 29, and Episode 6 on December 6.
The story will conclude with a theatrical season finale planned for spring 2027, giving audiences a cinematic ending to one of the most pivotal chapters in the series.
International viewers in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa will receive the season following the same overall release pattern through Prime Video.
Fans hoping to watch the new episodes through The Chosen app, however, will have to wait a little longer.
Official streaming dates for the app have not yet been announced.
Under the agreement between 5&2 Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, Prime Video holds a 90-day exclusive streaming window before the episodes can appear on the series’ own platform.
When discussing that partnership earlier this year, Jenkins noted that the exclusivity period is actually shorter than many streaming agreements.
He explained that Prime Video worked closely with the production team to keep that window as brief as possible.
Once every episode has completed its exclusive run on Prime Video, the 90-day countdown will begin before the season becomes available through The Chosen app.
With the first teaser now released, anticipation surrounding Season 6 continues to grow.
The trailer promises heartbreaking performances, escalating tension and the defining events of Good Friday, but Jenkins believes audiences should prepare for something even deeper.
Rather than remembering the season solely for its sorrow, he hopes viewers will walk away understanding the power of surrender, faith and hope that can exist even in humanity’s darkest moments.
As The Chosen moves toward what its creator calls the biggest chapter in the series’ history, Season 6 appears ready to deliver not only its most emotionally devastating story, but also one of its most meaningful.
