The latest updates from 5&2 Studios have given fans a deeper look into the future of The Chosen franchise, including the highly anticipated Season 6, the upcoming live-action spin-off Joseph of Egypt, the animated series The Chosen Adventures, and the animated feature David. During a recent livestream, creator Dallas Jenkins shared behind-the-scenes images and exclusive details about these projects, offering viewers a glimpse of the dramatic stories that are coming next.

Among all the announcements, The Chosen Season 6 attracted the most attention because it will focus on the final days of Jesus’ earthly ministry. The upcoming season will portray some of the most emotional and significant moments in the Gospel narrative, including Judas’ betrayal, Jesus’ arrest, His trials before Jewish leaders and Pontius Pilate, and ultimately His crucifixion. The first six episodes are expected to arrive in fall 2026, while the final two episodes are planned for theatrical release in spring 2027.

New behind-the-scenes images reveal that Season 6 will explore the tension surrounding Jesus’ arrest. Scenes show Judas identifying Jesus with a kiss, Roman and temple guards taking Jesus away, and Jesus being questioned by Caiaphas, the Sanhedrin, and Pilate. The images also suggest that the series will not only focus on Jesus’ suffering but will also follow the fear and confusion experienced by His disciples as they attempt to escape arrest.

One of the most important parts of the season will be the crucifixion. The production has released several images related to Golgotha, where Jesus was crucified alongside two criminals. However, some images appear to show additional crucifixions, suggesting that the show may include flashbacks to earlier events involving Roman executions or explore broader themes surrounding human suffering and rebellion.
Another intriguing storyline involves the relationship between John, Malchus, and Judas. Malchus, a servant of the high priest Caiaphas, was introduced in Season 5 and became an important connection between John and the religious leaders. In Season 6, viewers will see Malchus reacting after Jesus heals the injury caused by Peter during the arrest. Although Malchus sympathizes with Jesus, he is unable to provide the help needed to stop what is happening.

The series will also revisit Judas’ motivation for betraying Jesus. In a dramatic scene, Judas attempts to explain his actions to John, claiming that he believed forcing Jesus into a crisis would reveal His true power. John challenges Judas for trusting his own reasoning instead of having faith in Jesus’ plan. The conversation highlights one of the central tragedies of Judas’ story: he expected power to appear through victory, while Jesus’ true purpose was revealed through sacrifice.
Dallas Jenkins has suggested that Season 6 will not simply be a retelling of Jesus’ death. Instead, the season will examine the larger question of why humanity needs redemption. This idea opens the possibility that the series may include flashbacks connected to the origins of sin, such as Adam and Eve, the fall of humanity, or personal stories showing how different characters struggle with guilt, failure, and the need for forgiveness.
Beyond The Chosen, the franchise is expanding with Joseph of Egypt, the first live-action spin-off connected to the series. The production has already begun filming and has revealed early images of Egyptian settings and Jacob’s family. The creative team behind the show includes designers with experience from major Egypt-themed productions, suggesting that the series will aim for a visually impressive historical world.
Another upcoming project is The Chosen Adventures, an animated series created for younger audiences. The show is scheduled to premiere on October 17, 2025, and will bring the world of The Chosen to children through animated storytelling. Early previews indicate that it will revisit familiar moments from the original series while presenting them in a more accessible format for families.
The animated movie David is also moving forward after facing production challenges. Originally developed with Angel Studios, the project later changed direction following legal disputes, with Slingshot Studios partnering with 5&2 Studios to complete the film and seek distribution. A preview clip shows David collecting a stone from a stream before approaching the Israelite camp at the Valley of Elah, where his legendary battle with Goliath will take place.
Overall, these announcements suggest that the world of Bible-based entertainment is entering a new period of growth. Following the success of The Chosen, more studios are investing in biblical stories across live-action, animation, and family entertainment. With Season 6 promising a deeper exploration of sacrifice, sin, and redemption, the franchise appears ready to deliver some of its most powerful storytelling yet.
