According to surveillance footage from Finn’s Dockside Bar & Grill, members of the globally famous K-pop group entered the restaurant on April 23 for what appeared to be a low-key meal away from the noise and attention surrounding their upcoming performances. At the time, most people inside the restaurant reportedly had no idea that one of the biggest music groups in the world was sitting nearby.

That changed the next day.

The discovery began after fans noticed details in a selfie posted online. With the kind of sharp attention BTS fans are known for, they managed to identify the exact location where the group had eaten. Once the restaurant was recognized, Finn’s Dockside Bar & Grill quickly became more than just a local dining spot. It became a destination.

General manager Harold Eddy said the restaurant was caught off guard by the sudden wave of attention. Staff members had not immediately realized who had visited until fans began calling, asking questions, and trying to make reservations.

“We’ve been getting an influx of probably somewhere between 100-200 people per day, extra on top of our business all day,” Eddy said. “People started calling, started asking, started wanting to make reservations.”

The restaurant’s surveillance video later confirmed what fans had already pieced together. BTS had entered the Apollo Beach restaurant before their Tampa concerts, quietly enjoying a meal while much of the room remained unaware of their presence.

For many fans, that ordinary picnic table by the water became something almost symbolic. For Tricia Ho, the visit came together naturally after a family connection and the BTS discovery overlapped.

“My uncle lives down the street and he’s been telling us to come here for lunch,” she said. “So then she asked me if I wanted to come because BTS was here I said, ‘Ok lets go.’”

For Eddy and the restaurant team, the attention has been overwhelming but welcome. He said he was not entirely sure why BTS chose Finn’s Dockside Bar & Grill, but he suspected the group may have wanted a calmer setting outside the busier Tampa atmosphere.

“I’m not really sure why they picked us but we’re glad they did,” Eddy said. “I think it was probably to get away from the Tampa vibe, all the buzz about them there to make sure they have a relaxing dinner.”

That may be the most striking part of the story. BTS apparently went to the restaurant hoping for a peaceful meal, and for a short time, they got exactly that. No crowd surrounded them. No immediate frenzy broke out. Most diners did not even realize what had happened until after the moment was already over.

But once the internet caught up, the quiet dinner took on a completely different life.

For fans, the appeal was not just about celebrity spotting. It was about proximity. Sitting at the same table, ordering the same food, and taking photos in the same place allowed them to feel connected to a group whose global fame often makes them seem unreachable.
