COULD DUTTON RANCH SOON BECOME THE “AVENGERS” OF TAYLOR SHERIDAN’S UNIVERSE? Fans are endlessly imagining explosive crossover moments between Beth, Rip, and iconic characters from other Sheridan series. Every name mentioned sparks chaotic scenarios filled with clashes, alliances, and story-changing confrontations. But there is one meeting that the entire fan community considers the “ultimate fantasy” — and when it happens, the internet could explode.

We’re almost halfway through Season 1 of Dutton Ranch, and while there have been some subtle callouts to original Yellowstone cast members, no one—aside from Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and Carter (Finn Little)—has actually set foot in Texas. That’s causing quite a bit of chaos among fans. And that’s not the only show people want to see cross over with the Beth and Rip spinoff. Some fans — and even cast members — are hoping to see characters from Landman or The Madison make their way to the Lone Star State. Below, we break down the top five Taylor Sheridan characters people are begging to see in Dutton Ranch.

5. John Dutton III (Kevin Costner)

Even though John Dutton III died in Season 5 of the original Yellowstone following Kevin Costner’s departure, fans refuse to let the patriarch stay buried. Many are hoping for a flashback, dream sequence, or even a vision that brings the legendary rancher back to the screen — especially to offer his daughter Beth some much-needed comfort and closure as she navigates life in Texas.

Costner himself has kept the door open. In a 2024 appearance on the Today show, he said he would “love” to return to the Yellowstone universe “under the right circumstances.”

“I think that’s what all of us want. For me, it really needs to be the right circumstances. There’s always a chance.”

A poignant John Dutton appearance could provide emotional weight to Beth’s journey and give longtime fans the closure they’ve been craving since his controversial exit.

4. Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer)

When The Madison was first announced, many assumed it was part of the Yellowstone universe. Although production later confirmed it exists in its own world, fans — and even some creatives — are still pushing for a crossover.

The Madison and Dutton Ranch director Christina Alexandra Voros told Woman’s World earlier this year that she would love to see a meeting between Stacy Clyburn (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Beth Dutton.

“I would love to see Stacy Clyburn and Beth Dutton get along, and I would love to see them having a whiskey together at the same bar.”

Unfortunately, Voros also noted that the two stories exist on “different sides of a similar point,” making an immediate crossover unlikely. Still, the idea of two powerhouse actresses sharing a scene remains one of the most requested fan fantasies.

3. Elsa Dutton (Isabel May)

Technically, Elsa Dutton died in the prequel series 1883. However, Isabel May has continued providing voiceovers in both 1923 and the original Yellowstone, symbolizing Elsa’s lasting legacy on the family.

Fans are hoping for something more substantial in Dutton Ranch — perhaps a vision, a dream sequence, or a symbolic appearance that ties the Texas chapter back to the family’s origins. Because Elsa was buried on the original Yellowstone ranch, her physical return would be tricky, but a creative workaround could give fans the emotional payoff they desire.

May’s haunting narration has become a signature of the franchise, and many believe her presence in Texas could add poetic depth to Beth and Rip’s new beginning.

2. Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton)

Since both Dutton Ranch and Landman take place in Texas, not having a crossover between the two shows would feel like a missed opportunity. And if any Landman character were to appear, fans overwhelmingly want it to be the larger-than-life Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton.

Now that Tommy has created his own cattle company in Landman, the door for a meeting with Beth and Rip feels wide open. Several cast members from Dutton Ranch have expressed enthusiasm for the idea. Marc Menchaca, who plays a key character in Dutton Ranch, told Woman’s World that he believes his role would fit perfectly in the Landman world.

“I just like the pace of it and the world of it. It takes place basically where I’m from [San Antonio, Texas], and so I get the characters and it makes me feel at home, just with a little heightened violence.”

A scene featuring Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris locking horns with Beth Dutton would be television gold — two no-nonsense, straight-talking forces colliding in the heart of Texas.

1. Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes)

Of course, the number one most-requested crossover is Beth’s brother, Kayce Dutton.

As the star of the other active Yellowstone spin-off Marshals, Kayce feels like the most natural fit for Dutton Ranch. Director Greg Yaitanes told Collider that both casts have expressed interest in appearing on each other’s shows.

“We talked about that a lot because each wanted to be on the other show. I feel like Kayce should go to Dutton Ranch. That feels like something that I would lose my sh*t over as a fan. That would be pretty cool.”

Kelly Reilly has also fueled the speculation. In an interview with People magazine earlier this year, she said:

“I’m so proud of Luke, and we love him so much, and I miss him. I wish we had a crossover. Maybe we will in the future.”

A Beth and Kayce reunion in Texas could provide the emotional fireworks the franchise is known for. Their complicated sibling dynamic was one of Yellowstone’s strongest elements, and seeing them navigate their separate paths while still tied by blood would be a major moment for fans.

Will Any of These Crossovers Actually Happen?

While Taylor Sheridan’s universe is built on interconnected storytelling, showrunners have been careful about balancing the different series. Dutton Ranch is carving out its own identity in Texas, and overloading it with too many cameos could dilute its focus.

However, the door is clearly not closed. With Dutton Ranch breaking streaming records and Marshals and Landman performing strongly, the potential for strategic crossovers remains high — especially if they serve the story rather than feeling forced.

For now, fans will have to wait and see. But one thing is certain: the Yellowstone universe is bigger and more alive than ever, and the demand for these dream team-ups is only growing louder with each new episode.

As Beth Dutton herself might say in classic fashion — family is everything. And in Sheridan’s world, blood ties have a way of pulling people back together when you least expect it.

The ranch keeps rolling… and the crossovers may be coming sooner than we think.
