LANDMAN’S ALI LARTER SHARES INSIGHTS ON A “SIMPLER” LIFE IN THE IDAHO MOUNTAINS AFTER 6 YEARS OF LEAVING L.A. After leaving Los Angeles six years ago, Ali Larter seems to have found a completely different rhythm of life in Idaho, where she enjoys the quiet spaces, nature, and a much simpler lifestyle compared to the glamorous pace of Hollywood. The Landman star recently opened up further about her new life, revealing that the changes lie not just in her place of residence, but within herself, through aspects of her life that the public rarely gets to see.

Landman actress Ali Larter has shared a peaceful and joyful look into her life in the Idaho mountains after trading Los Angeles for a quieter existence six years ago. The 50-year-old star, along with her husband, actor Hayes MacArthur, 49, and their two children, son Theodore, 15, and daughter Vivienne, 11, made the move to the scenic ski resort town of Sun Valley during the COVID-19 pandemic, seeking a slower pace and closer connection to nature.

Larter posted a belated Fourth of July update on Instagram on Thursday, July 9, giving followers a glimpse of her family’s celebrations in the town’s breathtaking mountain setting. “Epic 4th in the Mountains!” she wrote alongside a series of photos showing her loved ones dressed in red, white, and blue, posing on a classic red and white Willys Jeep, floating down the river, fly fishing, and enjoying drinks together in the sunshine.

The picturesque snaps highlight the simpler, nature-centered lifestyle the family has embraced since leaving the hustle of Los Angeles. In a recent interview with Fox News, Larter explained how her summers have become “totally different” since the move. “We love to barbecue at our house. We love to play with our dogs. My daughter will probably play some volleyball. We’ll go to [local ice cream parlor] Leroy’s and get an ice cream cone,” she said. “It’s just kind of simpler, and the days are really long. The sun’s out till like 10 at night now, so it’s been really beautiful to kind of have the kids out of school and enjoy the time with them.”

The Legally Blonde star admitted that her children are no longer as enthusiastic about long hikes as they once were, but they still enjoy bike rides and refreshing “cold plunges” in the river. Last year, she told the Wall Street Journal she feels a special kind of “magic” in the mountains. “When I’m up there hiking for three hours, I feel a special calmness. I feel the most in my skin now than I’ve ever felt before,” she shared.

Larter has also been open about her wellness and skincare routines as she navigates life after turning 50. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, she emphasized a holistic approach to health. “I believe in the whole approach to wellness,” she explained. “I’m someone who definitely [goes] to the gym, I drink a ton of water and celery juice. I take care of my skin. I love my family.”

She revealed that she shares skincare advice with her daughter Vivienne — who recently joined her mom on the red carpet alongside her brother — and that they often do their nighttime skincare routine together. “I didn’t put the importance on the consistency when I was younger,” she admitted. “I have a daughter and you kind of make it like it’s a beautiful part of your night instead of it being rushed,” she said.

The family’s decision to leave Los Angeles during the pandemic was driven by a desire for a more grounded, family-focused life. Sun Valley, known for its stunning mountain views, outdoor activities, and tight-knit community, has provided the perfect backdrop for their new chapter. Larter has frequently shared glimpses of their life there, from family hikes and river adventures to quiet moments enjoying nature and spending quality time together.

While Larter continues to work in Hollywood — most recently starring in Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Landman — she has made it clear that her family and personal well-being are her top priorities. The move has allowed her to focus on what matters most while still pursuing meaningful acting roles and maintaining a presence in the entertainment industry.

As she celebrates milestones like the Fourth of July with loved ones in the mountains, Larter’s posts serve as a reminder that even in the fast-paced world of entertainment, finding peace, simplicity, and connection with nature can be the ultimate luxury. Her journey from Los Angeles to Sun Valley reflects a broader trend of celebrities seeking balance and a slower pace after the challenges of the pandemic.
