Billboard has come under heavy criticism after a promotional post for KATSEYE’s latest comeback sparked accusations that the outlet singled out the group’s only Korean member, Yoonchae, by leaving her out of its individual member spotlight.
Following the release of KATSEYE’s new single “Animal,” Billboard shared a social media post celebrating the comeback. The post featured a group photo alongside individual images of each member—but fans quickly noticed one glaring omission. Yoonchae was the only member who did not receive a solo image, while every other member was showcased individually.
Screenshots of the post spread rapidly across X and other social media platforms, where fans questioned why Yoonchae had been excluded. Many argued that the omission was too obvious to ignore, especially since she was the only member missing from the lineup of individual photos.
The incident quickly escalated, with some fans accusing Billboard of showing a pattern of unfair treatment toward Yoonchae. Several posts claimed that she has repeatedly been overlooked despite being an important member of the group, while others went even further by alleging that the omission reflected racial bias because she is KATSEYE’s only Korean member.
Social media soon filled with messages demanding that Billboard correct the post by uploading an individual photo of Yoonchae. Supporters flooded the comments section, insisting that every member deserves equal visibility and questioning how such an omission could happen on an official promotional post.
At the same time, it is important to note that, as of now, there is no public evidence that Billboard intentionally excluded Yoonchae because of her ethnicity. The criticism stems from fans’ interpretation of the missing image, and Billboard has not released any statement explaining whether the omission was accidental, a publishing error, or the result of another editorial decision.

As of this writing, Billboard has not publicly addressed the backlash or updated the promotional post. Until an official explanation is provided, the controversy continues to fuel debate online, with many KATSEYE fans calling for clarification and equal treatment for all six members.
