‘Big Hit Music Brothers’ BTS and CORTIS demonstrated formidable strength by sweeping the May KM Chart side by side.
According to the May monthly chart results announced by the K-pop chart ‘KM Chart, K-M Chart’ through its official website on the 31st of last month, BTS and CORTIS each showcased a dual-lead performance by topping the artist and digital music categories, among others.
The first to ignite the momentum was the ‘monster rookie’ CORTIS. In the K-MUSIC, Digital Music category, CORTIS’s ‘REDRED, Red Red’ confidently claimed the top spot. ‘REDRED’ had already risen rapidly to the top of various domestic and international music charts and music programs immediately after its release, solidifying its dominant position by securing the monthly No. 1 on the KM Chart.
Following this, Plave’s ‘Born Savage’, ILLIT’s ‘It’s Me’, Akmu’s ‘Joy, Sadness, Beautiful Heart’, Lim Young-woong’s ‘Eternal Moment’, BTS’s ‘SWIM’, and Jin (BTS)’s ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’ ranked in the TOP10, showcasing fierce chart competition.
In the ‘K-MUSIC ARTIST (Artist)’ category, where global top-tier artists’ pride was at stake, BTS successfully defended its throne for the second consecutive month. Akmu followed in second place, and Lim Young-woong secured third. Plave, ILLIT, BLACKPINK, and Tomorrow X Together also appeared in the top ranks.
In the ‘HOT CHOICE (Popularity)’ category, which fully reflects global fan sentiment, BTS members dominated. In the male category, V (BTS) proved his massive popularity by claiming first place, closely followed by Lim Young-woong and Lee Chan-won. Jimin, Jin, and Jungkook also secured high rankings, demonstrating the ‘BTS power’. In the female category, global rookie Baby Monster topped the chart, while Dreamcatcher, TWICE, and Hearts2Hearts decorated the TOP10.
The competition in the ‘ROOKIE (Rookie)’ category was also intense. In the male category, CORTIS proved itself as the best rookie of May by winning the rookie award following its digital music category victory. Alphadriveone, Longshot, and Modise followed. In the female category, HADES (HADES) stood out by taking first place.
The KM Chart will host the ‘KMA 2026’ at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, on July 25th.
