Authorities in Seoul have arrested a man in his 30s on charges of sexual assault, according to an announcement from the Gangnam Police Station on April 16. The suspect, identified only as Mr. A, was reportedly apprehended in the act and is currently under investigation for alleged forced molestation.
Police stated that the case involves an incident between Mr. A and a female streamer, whom he had met through a so-called “date ticket.” This type of arrangement, increasingly popular on live streaming platforms, typically allows top donors to spend time with streamers—often in the form of a meal or casual outing. In this case, Mr. A allegedly paid approximately ₩3 million KRW (around $2,000 USD) for the opportunity.

According to the victim’s statement, the two met for dinner and drinks before Mr. A invited her to his home. The streamer claimed that he had assured her beforehand that he would not engage in any inappropriate behavior. However, once at his residence, she alleges that he initiated physical contact without her consent and attempted to sexually assault her despite repeated refusals.
“He promised that he would not have any sexual contact with me,” the victim reportedly stated. “I already rejected him several times, but he forced physical contact and also tried to sexually assault me.”
The situation escalated to the point where police were called to the scene. Reports indicate that officers knocked on the door and Mr. A opened it, leading to his immediate arrest. Additional allegations have surfaced suggesting that he may have been driving under the influence following the dinner, though this aspect remains under investigation.
As details of the case began circulating online, controversy quickly intensified due to speculation surrounding the suspect’s identity. Unverified claims emerged suggesting that Mr. A could be related to Jisoo of the globally renowned K-pop group BLACKPINK. The rumors gained traction after a report by Channel A featured a thumbnail image resembling Jisoo alongside a blurred photo of a man believed by some to be her brother.

The use of such imagery, despite the lack of official confirmation, has drawn criticism from fans and online communities. Many have expressed concern over the potential spread of misinformation and the impact it could have on individuals not directly involved in the case. Social media platforms have since been flooded with reactions ranging from shock to skepticism, as users debate the credibility of the claims.
At this time, authorities have not released any information confirming the identity of the suspect beyond his age and the initial “Mr. A” designation. Likewise, no official statement has been issued linking the case to Jisoo or her family. Experts caution against drawing conclusions based on unverified online speculation, emphasizing the importance of relying on confirmed facts during an ongoing investigation.

Adding another layer to the situation, reports have also referenced past allegations involving the suspect, including claims that he previously filmed employees without their consent. However, these accusations have not yet been formally addressed in the current investigation.
The case has once again highlighted the darker side of emerging online monetization systems, such as “date tickets,” which can blur personal boundaries and create potentially unsafe situations. It also underscores the speed at which rumors can spread in the digital age, particularly when public figures are indirectly involved.
As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to examine all aspects of the case, including the events leading up to the alleged assault and any additional misconduct. For now, the focus remains on the legal process, while calls grow louder for responsible reporting and restraint in the face of unconfirmed claims.
