The CW has officially confirmed that Sullivan’s Crossing will return for a fifth season, giving fans of the romantic drama another chapter to look forward to.
According to Deadline, The CW has finalized a deal for a 10-episode Season 5 of the series, which stars Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray. Production is expected to begin later this summer in Nova Scotia, with the new season planned to premiere on The CW in 2027.
The renewal keeps the show on its current yearly schedule and comes shortly after the series was already renewed in Canada by CTV and Crave. The CW has been the show’s first U.S. home since its debut, helping introduce the series to a wider audience.
The announcement also comes with a major behind-the-scenes change. Deadline previously reported that Floyd Kane will take over as the new head writer for Season 5. Series creator Roma Roth, who guided the show through its first four seasons, will step away from that role but will remain involved as an executive producer.
Roth is also working on another adaptation based on author Robyn Carr’s novels, titled Thunder Point. She continues to be involved with Netflix’s popular Carr adaptation Virgin River as well. Speaking about the renewal, Roth shared her excitement for the show’s continued success.
“I could not be more excited that Sullivan’s Crossing will be returning for its fifth season,” Roth said. “From the beginning, my goal was to create a long-running series that would resonate deeply with a global audience, and I’m thrilled that our fans have supported us every step of the way.” She also welcomed Kane joining the creative team, adding that his storytelling will help guide the next stage of the series.
The show’s popularity has continued to grow, especially after gaining exposure on Netflix. Deadline reported that Sullivan’s Crossing has averaged more than 1 million cross-platform viewers per episode during Season 4 on The CW.
The series has also seen strong growth in several audience categories, with increased viewership among key age groups and higher numbers through streaming and on-demand platforms.
Netflix has played an important role in boosting the show’s popularity. The first three seasons were added to the platform last summer and quickly became a hit with viewers. Season 4 later benefited from that attention, with the latest episodes reaching new audiences after arriving on Netflix in the U.S.
According to Deadline, Season 4 ranked sixth on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart during its opening week, earning around 3 million views despite only being available in the United States.
The fourth season followed Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) as she tried to build a new future at Sullivan’s Crossing while strengthening her relationship with Cal (Chad Michael Murray). However, the return of her former husband Liam brought unexpected challenges and forced Maggie to confront parts of her past.
Season 4 also marked a major change for the series after original co-lead Scott Patterson exited the show. At this time, there are no plans for Patterson to return in a major role for Season 5.
Based on the bestselling novels by Robyn Carr, Sullivan’s Crossing continues to be produced by Reel World Management and Muse Entertainment alongside Bell Media, The CW, and Fremantle.
With a new creative leader, strong streaming numbers, and a loyal fanbase, Season 5 looks set to continue the emotional story that has helped make Sullivan’s Crossing one of The CW’s most successful recent dramas.
