Blake Lively’s latest public appearance came at a moment when the legal narrative surrounding her could hardly have been more complicated.

Just two days after a judge sharply reduced the amount she had sought from Justin Baldoni in legal fees and litigation costs, Lively was photographed in New York City with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and her sister, Robyn Lively. According to Page Six, it was her first photographed outing since the ruling, and the contrast was difficult to miss: while the courtroom story had just delivered her a significant disappointment, the images showed her smiling and appearing relaxed beside two of the people who have supported her most consistently throughout the dispute.

That contrast matters because the latest ruling did not emerge in isolation. It was another chapter in a legal conflict that began in December 2024, when Lively filed a complaint accusing Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star, of sexual harassment. Those allegations were later repeated in her lawsuit. Baldoni has denied them.

The case then developed through a series of major legal turns. Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively, Reynolds and others, but that case was dismissed by a judge in 2025. Robyn Lively celebrated publicly at the time, writing of her sister, “No one knows you quite like I do, and man am I ever proud of you.”

Her earlier support had been equally direct. After Blake initially filed her complaint, Robyn wrote on Instagram, “FINALLY justice for my sister @blakelively.”

Ryan Reynolds has also remained publicly supportive. The couple married in 2012 and share four children, and in April 2026 Reynolds said he had “never been more proud” of his wife.

Those statements now carry additional weight because Blake’s own lawsuit later encountered serious setbacks. In April 2026, 10 of her 13 claims were dismissed. The remaining dispute was expected to proceed to trial in May, but roughly two weeks before that date, Lively and Baldoni reached a settlement.

Neither side received money under that agreement.

The financial dispute that followed became the focus of the newest courtroom fight. Lively sought $7,495,526.87 in attorneys’ fees, along with $539,514.01 in litigation costs and expenses from Baldoni. Combined, the request exceeded $8 million.

The judge rejected most of it.

Calling the amount an “outrageously unreasonable demand,” the court instead ordered Baldoni to pay Lively $363,245.40 in attorneys’ fees and an additional $44,206.35.

That difference is enormous, and it explains why the ruling was portrayed as a legal blow for Lively. Yet the two sides immediately framed its meaning in completely different ways.

Lively’s attorneys, Esra Hudson and Michael Gottlieb, argued that the litigation should not be reduced to a dispute over a dollar figure. In their statement, they insisted the “case was never about money – it was about accountability.”

That line attempts to shift attention away from how much Lively ultimately recovered and toward the broader purpose her team says motivated the case from the beginning.

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, offered almost the opposite interpretation. He called the ruling “a significant victory for my clients” and argued that it demonstrated that the courtroom cannot be used for personal advantage regardless of someone’s power or status.

The contrast between those two statements reveals how the same ruling can support two entirely different narratives. For Lively’s team, the size of the award does not define the meaning of the case. For Baldoni’s side, the drastic reduction itself is evidence that the court rejected an excessive demand.

Baldoni had already begun addressing the wider controversy publicly before this latest decision. In July, he appeared in an Instagram video with his wife, Emily Baldoni, and spoke about the years of accusations and public attention surrounding the dispute.

“There have been so many painful things spoken into existence over the last couple of years,” he said, explaining that the resulting “noise” was one reason he had chosen not to speak extensively while the legal process continued.

“So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course,” Baldoni said.

Emily Baldoni added: “And the truth and facts have spoken for themselves, and here we are.”

That makes Blake Lively’s New York appearance particularly striking. The courtroom portion of this story has been defined by allegations, dismissed claims, a failed countersuit, a settlement, competing legal interpretations and now a dramatically reduced fee award. Outside the courtroom, however, the image presented was much simpler: Lively walking with Reynolds and Robyn, two family members who have repeatedly and publicly stood beside her.

Perhaps that is why the photographs carry more meaning than a routine celebrity outing normally would. They arrived immediately after a ruling that gave Baldoni’s team reason to claim victory, yet they also reinforced the support system that has remained visible around Lively through every major turn of the dispute.

The legal battle may have produced a settlement, but the struggle over what the entire conflict ultimately means clearly did not end with it.
