Landman fans finally have something more solid than rumor to hold onto. Paramount+ has confirmed that Taylor Sheridan is actively writing the show’s next chapter—and that the streamer still treats the series as a core part of its strategy, even as questions swirl about Sheridan’s eventual departure for NBCUniversal.
Jane Wiseman, EVP and Head of Originals at Paramount+, addressed Sheridan’s current slate in a conversation with Deadline and did not hedge on Landman. “Between Tulsa and Landman, which Taylor is writing right now. Frisco, Dutton, Madison, we have a lot of business, and we’re going to be in business for time to come,” she said.
For a show whose Season 3 timeline had recently looked softer, that was a clear institutional signal: Landman is not being quietly sidelined.
Production Shifted—but the Cast Is Ready
The schedule did slip. James Jordan, who plays Dale Bradley, previously revealed that filming had moved off an expected August start. Instead, he said cameras would roll “sometime in September” and continue through the first quarter of 2027.
He framed the upcoming run with characteristic energy. “It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes—just like season 1 and season 2 have been,” Jordan said. “Billy Bob and everybody, we’re all ready to get back to work.”
Jordan has already seen at least some of the new material. Sheridan sent him Season 3 pages directly. “I’ve got the season 3 script. It was sent to me right in this phone,” he said. “I will guard it with my life. But I snuck a quick peek.”
That detail matters. A delayed start can sound like trouble; a delayed start paired with scripts already in actors’ hands sounds more like logistics than creative drift.

Wiseman’s comments place the delay in a broader context. Paramount+ is not discussing Landman as a title nearing the end of its usefulness. Wiseman said the streamer wants to “take care of the Sheridan audience, the Taylorverse” while it expands its wider lineup. In an era when Sheridan’s long-term home is expected to change, that language is deliberate.
Sheridan is widely expected to move to NBCUniversal in 2029. Longtime producing partner David Glasser has already made that jump. Wiseman said Paramount+ still hopes to launch additional Sheridan projects before the clock runs out—and expects the series he built at the company to keep performing after he leaves.
“That is the hope, and that is the intention,” she said when asked whether Sheridan might still create more Paramount+ shows. “We have a couple things that I can’t talk about, but we work very closely with Taylor and David Glasser. We have a really great relationship.”
Then she offered the line Landman viewers will care about most: “We have more Landman coming.”
Where Season 2 Left the Board
Season 3 will not open on a blank slate. Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris closed Season 2 preparing to strike out on his own. Demi Moore’s Cami Miller was left managing an increasingly dangerous future for M-Tex Oil. Those two trajectories—Tommy’s independence and Cami’s fight to hold a company together amid escalating threat—give the writers an immediate engine of conflict, loyalty and risk.
Sheridan’s oil-patch drama has always balanced industry texture with personal and criminal stakes. With the creator writing the new episodes himself and Paramount+ publicly reaffirming the show, the creative continuity fans want appears intact even if the production calendar moved by a few weeks.
What Can Be Said for Now
There is still no official premiere date. Filming is expected to begin in September 2026 and stretch into early 2027, which points to a release sometime after principal photography and post-production wrap—likely later in 2027, though the streamer has not confirmed a window. The episode order, per Jordan, is ten.
What has been confirmed is the part that was in doubt: Paramount+ wants the series, Sheridan is writing it, the cast has pages, and the company is planning to stay in business with the “Taylorverse” for years to come. For a fandom that had been staring at a slipped start date, “We have more Landman coming” is the update that actually moves the story forward.
