Even after BTS members began moving out of their shared dorm and into their own homes, it appears that living separately never meant living far apart. In fact, several members have reportedly chosen residences close enough to one another that their private lives still overlap in surprisingly ordinary ways. Now, a playful exchange between Jimin and SUGA has fans joking that the members may be neighbors in more ways than one.
Around 2018 and 2019, BTS gradually moved away from the dorm lifestyle that had defined their early years together. As their careers grew and their personal circumstances changed, the members began living independently, giving each of them more privacy and personal space.
Yet independence did not necessarily mean distance.
Several members have continued to live relatively close to one another, creating a situation where they can maintain their own homes while still being within easy reach of their longtime friends and bandmates.
Jimin and RM, for example, have reportedly shared the experience of being neighbors for several years after purchasing apartments at Nine One Hannam in 2021. Jin has also previously indicated that his home is only a short drive from RM and Jimin’s residences.
And then there is SUGA.

During a conversation in March, SUGA unexpectedly revealed that he had also moved closer to RM and, notably, right next door to Jimin. According to Korean media reports, SUGA may have moved there in 2023 after previously living in other areas, including UN Village and Parc Hannam.
If the reports are accurate, the arrangement means that multiple BTS members are living remarkably close to one another even though they no longer share a dorm.
For fans, that detail is more than just an interesting piece of real-estate trivia.
It offers another glimpse into the close relationships the members have maintained after spending years together.
Their schedules may be demanding, and each member now has an independent personal life, but living nearby creates opportunities for spontaneous visits, casual conversations and ordinary moments away from the spotlight.
Fans have also noticed RM and Jimin biking together around their apartment complex on multiple occasions, further fueling the idea that the members continue to spend time together when their schedules allow.
And perhaps that proximity explains one particularly funny moment involving Jimin and SUGA’s beloved cat, Tang.
During a Weverse Live following a BTS concert, the members were discussing sports when Jimin suddenly brought up Tang. Without hesitation, he told SUGA, “Tang likes to play ball so why don’t you do it, hyung?”
SUGA’s response immediately sent fans into laughter.
“That’s Tang. Am I Tang?”

The exchange was classic BTS humor: Jimin making an unexpectedly personal observation and SUGA responding with completely deadpan logic.
But Jimin’s comment also caught fans’ attention for another reason.
How exactly did he know so much about Tang’s latest habits?
The simplest answer is probably that the members remain close enough to know what is happening in one another’s daily lives.
Tang is SUGA’s three-year-old cat, and Jimin casually knowing that the pet enjoys playing with a ball made the interaction feel surprisingly domestic. It sounded less like a conversation between globally famous musicians and more like two close friends talking about each other’s pets.
That is part of what made the moment so charming.
The conversation did not happen in isolation, either.
The members had apparently been discussing playing pickleball in Tampa, providing the context for Jimin’s suggestion.
Between the second and third concerts, Jin, V and j-hope were seen enthusiastically playing pickleball together. The three appeared to be having fun with the sport, which apparently encouraged j-hope to invite SUGA to join them.
SUGA, however, was not interested.

His response was characteristically straightforward: “I’m against that idea. I’m not into ball games.”
It is difficult to imagine a more SUGA-like reaction.
While the other members were apparently enjoying a casual sporting activity, SUGA had already decided that ball games were not for him.
Jimin then found the perfect counterargument.
If Tang enjoys playing with a ball, why shouldn’t SUGA?
SUGA’s immediate response—“That’s Tang. Am I Tang?”—completely destroyed the logic of the argument while simultaneously creating one of the funniest moments of the conversation.
Fans naturally loved it.
The humor works because the members’ personalities are so familiar to longtime ARMY. Jimin is often playful and willing to tease his older members, while SUGA has a talent for responding with dry, unexpectedly blunt remarks.
The exchange also demonstrates how comfortable the members remain with one another.
There was no elaborate setup.
Jimin simply remembered something about Tang and used it to tease SUGA.
SUGA immediately played along.

That kind of interaction is difficult to manufacture.
It comes naturally from years of friendship.
And the fact that they reportedly live so close to one another makes the moment even more amusing.
Imagine having a world-famous BTS member living next door and still being able to casually discuss whether his cat likes playing with a ball.
For ARMY, that is exactly the kind of detail that makes the members’ relationship feel genuine.
The members have repeatedly emphasized that moving into their own homes did not mean they stopped being close. Their individual residences simply gave them more personal space as adults while allowing them to maintain their friendships.
Their proximity appears to make that balance easier.
They can spend time together when they want to, while still returning to their own homes and routines.
That arrangement may be particularly meaningful after years of living together in a dorm.
During BTS’ early career, sharing a living space meant that the members were constantly surrounded by one another. They ate together, practiced together, traveled together and experienced the pressures of becoming global stars as a team.
Eventually, however, having separate homes became a natural step.
Growing up did not mean growing apart.
If anything, their reported living arrangements suggest that they found another way to remain close.
There is also something reassuring about the members choosing to live near each other despite having enough resources and fame to live virtually anywhere.
For fans, it reinforces the impression that BTS’ relationship extends beyond their professional obligations.
They are not simply coworkers who reunite whenever there is a comeback or concert.
They remain friends who can joke about pets, invite each other to play sports and apparently live close enough to drop by.
The Jimin-SUGA conversation is a small example, but it captures that dynamic perfectly.
Jimin knew Tang liked playing with a ball.
SUGA knew exactly how to shut down the comparison.
And fans were left laughing at the idea that SUGA somehow needed to take athletic advice from his cat.
The exchange also adds another layer to the ongoing picture of BTS’ post-dorm life.
The members may now have separate apartments, different schedules and increasingly independent routines, but their worlds still appear to overlap.
RM and Jimin have reportedly lived near each other for years.
Jin has described his home as being only a short drive away.
SUGA reportedly moved even closer.
And the members continue to find opportunities to spend time together, whether through concerts, sports, casual visits or livestreams.
That proximity may explain why seemingly small details about one another’s lives naturally appear in conversations.
They are still paying attention to each other.
They still tease each other.
They still know the little things.
And sometimes, those little things are more entertaining than anything planned for the cameras.
The pickleball discussion is another perfect example.
Jin, V and j-hope were apparently enjoying themselves on the court, while j-hope tried to recruit SUGA into the activity. SUGA refused because he simply does not enjoy ball games.
Jimin then brought Tang into the argument.
The result was a few seconds of completely spontaneous BTS comedy.
It may not have been a major announcement or an important career moment, but those are precisely the interactions that fans tend to remember.
They reveal the personalities behind the stage personas.
Jimin’s playful teasing.
SUGA’s deadpan humor.
j-hope’s enthusiasm.
Jin and V joining in on the activity.
And Tang somehow becoming an unofficial participant in the conversation.
For ARMY, it is another reminder that BTS’ friendship has evolved rather than disappeared.
They no longer need to live under the same roof to remain part of one another’s everyday lives.
In fact, living nearby may give them the best of both worlds: independence without isolation.
And if Jimin really is close enough to know Tang’s latest hobbies, fans may have found one of the funniest pieces of evidence yet.
BTS may have left the dorm years ago, but apparently they never really left the neighborhood. With Jimin, RM, SUGA and other members reportedly living within easy reach of one another, their lives can still overlap in the most ordinary—and hilarious—ways. And judging from Jimin’s unforgettable “Tang likes to play ball” comment, having SUGA as a neighbor apparently means having Tang’s hobbies become neighborhood knowledge too.
